Goal:Students will be able to organize and compare fractions. Materials:SMART board Fraction pieces
DO NOW: Teacher will present fractions pieces on the smartboard and compare the fractions on the board. There will be examples shown and students will be given the opportunity to manipulate fraction pieces. ACTIVITIES: The student will also be broken up into groups and given a worksheet which asks them to organize and compare fraction pieces. The students will need to prove that they have kinesthetically manipulated to show comparisons.
INDEPENDENT PRACTICE: Students will be given a worksheet in which they will have to draw the appropriate fractions into either a circle or a square. They will then compare like fractions and explain in writing why and how they found their answers.
